The Vitale card will land on the identity app

This is the latest twist in the small world of dematerialization in : after the driving license and the digital identity card, prepare to see… the Vitale card on the France identity application! A small gesture for users, a big step in the fight against social fraud? Not so fast.

Health insurance fraud is making headlines, with a loss estimated at 1.7 billion euros. But surprise, the main fraudsters are not the holders of the famous green card. According to the High Council for the Financing of Social Protection (HCFiPS), it is mainly health professionals who benefit.

Despite this, the government is looking at another angle of attack: securing Vitale cards by integrating them into France Identity, the application which already brings together the digital identity card and the driving license. The idea? Make fraud more difficult for users, even if they are not the most affected.

Integration planned for 2025

The project to add the Vitale card to the application could see the light of day as early as the first quarter of 2025. After tests in 23 departments and an experiment with the ApCV app (which, let’s be honest, took its time), the The idea is that France identity simplifies all that. With this new digital version, registering your Vitale card will, in theory, be child’s play.

An economical solution?

The icing on the cake: this integration should not empty the state coffers. Unlike more expensive solutions such as merging with the identity card or a biometric Vitale card, this project is considered more realistic in relation to the level of real fraud among users.

In summary, a Vitale card on a smartphone is coming soon, and perhaps this time, it will be easier to manage than a simple plastic card. Fingers crossed.
