We are ready to take bets: this vehicle promises to be one of the big commercial successes of 2025. Why? Because Dacia has found the recipe that hits the mark with the public, particularly following the explosion in car prices, caused in part by somewhat hasty electrification. The other reason is that Dacia is tackling the C segment for the first time, that of so-called “compact” vehicles, which is the largest part of the market. With its 4.57 m long (23 cm more than the Duster), this is where the Bigster is positioned, and this is not the only response it provides to families’ expectations. We can of course also mention the more generous roominess in the rear seats, of course, and a record trunk of more than 600 liters. The trunk is also full of tips, with a reversible and rollable floor mat, which, like the luggage cover, can be stored under the trunk floor.
Hybrid
Dacia will offer three mechanical variants of the Bigster, some of which are new, including within the Renault group. This is for example the case of the new 1.8 hybrid engine with 155 hp which, incidentally, offers a towing capacity of 1,000 kilos. The other choices are the 1.2 petrol 140 hp, the same engine with LPG option, or a “deflated” version at 130 hp, associated with a 4×4 transmission offering 5 operating modes.
In terms of equipment, the Bigster receives the digital dashboard (7 or 10” depending on the finish level) and the 10.1” central screen as standard. As usual, it can play the economic card by practically being content to mirror a smartphone via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, or to offer its own navigation and other functions. We also cite some firsts at Dacia, such as dual-zone air conditioning and rear vents, the high central console (there are three different depending on the finish) with refrigerated compartment, the electrically opening tailgate, etc. And now, the final blow for the competition: Dacia announces a base price of less than €25,000, and less than €30,000 for the hybrid. So, shall we bet?
