The roof of the world gallery specializes in Himalayan cultures, with a focus on Nepalese shamanism. Ujjaya will give an exceptional concert based on instruments from Tibetan Buddhism but also from Nepalese shamanism, in particular the dhyagro, the shamans’ handle drum. Electronic effects and synthesizer layers will increase the natural enchantment of the instrumentarium. On the program: Shank (sacred conch) Kangling (femur trunk) Dung shen (Tibetan monastery trunk) Damaru (hourglass drum with whipping balls) Ting sha (cymbalets) Drilbu (Buddhist ritual bell) Dhyagro (Nepalese shamanic drum) Tika, flute in Buddhist wood from Nepal Nga singing bowls, Sil nyen monastery drum, bon po cymbal, all coated with subtle pads or synthesizer sequences. This musical journey will be for the benefit of the La Chrysalide association for a school for disadvantaged children in Kathmandu, a project directed by Anne Ciemior.
