Since the arrest on September 16 of Sean Combs, known by his stage name, P. Diddy, revelations about this sprawling case have been accumulating along with fake news.
On social networks, all political and media personalities who have had dealings directly or indirectly with the music producer are suspected of having participated in his evenings. “Freak Offs” for which he is today indicted by the courts.
The frenzy around this issue is such that guest lists are circulating on social networks, ensuring, to anyone who wants to believe it, that almost all American media and political figures are involved in this affair.
At the end of September, a list of 122 names distributed between “celebrities”, “royalty” et “politics” has been widely circulated on social networks. Presented as the “P-Diddy’s party guest list”there are Jay-Z, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Ellen DeGeneres, Sean Penn, Prince Harry, Barack Obama, Kamala Harris, and dozens of other media personalities.
Fake list created by an AI
This list presented as a revelation has been shared and translated into many languages (English, French, German). However, it is based on nothing other than a succession of names created by artificial intelligence. The Highlighters passed the text through several AI detectors, and the findings are clear: this text was generated by AI software (with 100% certainty for Scribbr and Quillbot, and around 73% for GPTZero and Isgen. ai).
The first occurrence of this list that Les Surligneurs was able to find was published by a Facebook page on September 24, 2024 at 7:34 p.m. The account “Thats Life But Not As We Know It” (“It’s life but not the one we know”in English) is managed by British users and mainly publishes conspiracy memes. In 2018, the account was created under the name “Thugspiracy”. Today, he is linked to TikTok and YouTube accounts (which he boasts of being “terminated”, therefore banned or censored, “twice”).
Of the “white parties” and “Freak Offs”
It is still no coincidence that this arrest of P. Diddy fuels so many theories linking the world of Hollywood showbiz and politicians to this affair. Indeed, the music producer was known for throwing big parties in the Hamptons — the “white parties” in reference to the dress code — where many media personalities were present.
Between 1998 and 2009, we saw Jay-Z, Ashton Kutcher, Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, Chris Brown and even Mariah Carey pass by. On paper, some of these events were simple birthday celebrations or parties for a charitable cause, including the eradication of malaria.
However, these parties to which P. Diddy seemed to want to give a very “The Great Gatsby” style are not immune from accusations of sexual violence. A woman employed in these evenings filed a complaint, reports the New York Timesand a former participant posted a video where he describes a dark side.
But there are other, much more orgiastic parties, nicknamed the “Freak Offs”which most worry federal judicial authorities. According to the Manhattan prosecutor’s office, these evenings were “elaborate and produced sexual performances that Combs staged, directed, masturbated during, and often recorded electronically”. He allegedly hired male prostitutes and forced women to participate.
Before his indictment and arrest, several complaints had been filed against P. Diddy. The first was issued by his ex-partner, the singer Cassie, in November 2023. But since then others have followed for facts spanning three decades. In February 2024, a complaint from his former producer, Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, denounced an organized system.
It was only after his testimony and searches that the singer was incriminated for sex trafficking and extortion. According to the Manhattan prosecutor’s office, the man would have “for decades, abused, threatened and coerced women to satisfy his sexual desires, protect his reputation and hide his actions”. P. In his February 2024 complaint, Rodney Jones does not only target Sean Combs. It also targets employees of the music mogul, one of his sons, his assistant and music label executives whom he accuses of having participated in the organization of these “Freak Offs”.
If there are indeed names of celebrities in the complaint, it is not, contrary to rumors, the people invited to the famous “sexual performances”. For example, Prince Harry is cited as an example of an international dignitary to whom the people who helped P. Diddy organize the parties could now “have access.”
The names of Mariah Carey and Jay-Z are also mentioned in the complaint but only to give context on a suspect who was their producer at one time. None of these people are accused of anything.
If we stick to the facts, for the moment, only Sean Combs is being prosecuted by the federal justice system in New York on several charges.

If we are interested in rumors, however, we are served. This story was exploited by the Republican camp, part of which surfs on QAnon theories, a far-right conspiracy movement which believes in a “deep state”.
Thus, a photo of Kamala Harris was retouched to make it appear that she was accompanied by P. Diddy when it was in fact her former companion, Montel Williams. Even though Donald Trump was actually photographed with P. Diddy in 1998.
