Naima Lamcharki, icon of Moroccan cinema and television, has died at the age of 81. His death, announced this Saturday, marks the end of an era for the Moroccan artistic world. Lamcharki leaves behind a career spanning more than five decades, punctuated by success on screens and stages.
The news of his death was confirmed by director Ahmed Bouaroua on Facebook. He paid tribute to “a sister, a companion, a sincere artist loved by all Moroccans”. His sad message touched the hearts of many fans and colleagues.
A career marked by memorable roles
Naima Lamcharki began her career in the 1950s. Over the years, she has become a key figure in cinema and television, participating in landmark productions like Allal Al Kalda et Tasqot Al Kheil Taba’an. His roles have often explored social issues, enriching Moroccan culture.
His performances, full of finesse and depth, have inspired several generations of artists. The public also knew her for her numerous appearances in popular television series, as well as for her participation in theater productions.
Last appearance in 2021
Lamcharki made his last appearance in the Ramadan series Souk Delala in 2021. This role crowned an exemplary career which had earned him several distinctions. In April 2021, she received the best actress award at the Malmö Arab Film Festival for her role in Kharif Attouffaha film by Mohamed Mouftakir.
An influence beyond the screen
But Lamcharki wasn’t just an actress. She became actively involved in children’s rights, becoming a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF and a member of the National Observatory for Children’s Rights. She also contributed to supporting theater professionals in Morocco.
The Minister of Culture, Mehdi Bensaid, hailed “a major artist and a symbol of Moroccan art”. His works, according to him, “will remain an eternal testimony to his creativity and dedication”.
Tributes multiplied after the announcement of his death. Singer Latifa Raafat expressed her grief, saying: “Naima Lamcharki has always brought elegance and professionalism to her roles. His passing is a great loss for all of us. »
With the departure of Naima Lamcharki, Morocco loses one of its biggest stars.
