The Parliament of French-speaking Women Writers aims to make the voices of French-speaking authors heard throughout the world. It aims to reaffirm their right to review our societies and their role in civilizational dialogue. Founded by the Tunisian writer Fawzia Zouari and supported from its creation by Leïla Slimani, the association constitutes a platform for the exchange of ideas, highlighting women’s literature and supporting women’s struggles.

For two days, the Parliament of French-speaking women writers comes to live in the City on the occasion of the International Summit of the Francophonie. From around the world, authors join Villers-Cotterêts to offer three formats of meeting with the public: a discussion, an ephemeral trial and finally a literary concert in the chapel of the City.

The members of the Parliament of French-speaking women writers set up their ephemeral tribunal on the steps of the castle and give their verdict on a question: are women who write dangerous? Three of them are in the dock while others are called to testify under the gaze of the public prosecutor and the President of the court. What will be the jury’s deliberations?

With Marie-José Alie, Fawzia Zouari, Emeline Pierre, Carole Fréchette, Frédérique Lantieri, Sedef Ecer, Viktor Lazlo, Cecile Oumhani, Hyam Yared, Catherine Cusset, Marie-Rose Abomo-Maurin, Chahla Chafik and Emna Bel-Haj Yahia
