While the CAS reduced Paul Pogba’s suspension to 18 months, Juventus Turin is not happy with the Frenchman’s potential return.
On Thursday, Paul Labile Pogba was relieved by the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Suspended for several months for four years due to his positive testosterone diagnosis in the summer of 2023, the French midfielder saw his sentence reduced to 18 months by the CAS. But this decision does not do Juventus Turin, Pogba’s club, any good.
Pogba very happy with the CAS decision
Officially suspended for four years last February by the federal prosecutor’s office, Paul Pogba can now breathe a sigh of relief. After appealing the decision to the CAS, the 2018 world champion won his case. In fact, the Arbitral Tribunal reduced the Frenchman’s sentence to 18 months instead of the initial four years. A decision very appreciated by the former Manchester United, who was impatient to return to the football fields.

“Finally, the nightmare is over. I look forward to the day when I can achieve my dreams again (…) I have always maintained that I have never knowingly violated the WADA regulations when I took a nutritional supplement that had been given to me prescribed by a doctor, and which does not affect or enhance the performance of male athletes (…) I play with integrity, and although I must accept that this is a strict liability offense, I want to thank the CAS judges who listened to my explanations. This time has been extremely trying for me, as everything I have worked so hard for has been put on hold. Thanks again for all the love and support. I can’t wait to get back on the field.”Paul Pogba said in a recent statement.

Juventus not too happy
But the joy of the French central midfielder does not bring happiness to his Italian club. Since the Frenchman’s suspension, the Old Lady has reduced Pogba’s salary to 2,000 euros/month instead of 11 million euros. But with the CAS decision, the Turin club will have to start paying the normal salary to the 31-year-old player. Which would not be good news for Juventus, who were even working to terminate the contract of the 2018 world champion.

The Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the news of the reduction of Paul Pogba’s sentence does not please Juventus, who did not expect it at all. While the club was looking to make savings due to its last financial report, which presented a deficit of €200 million, Juve will have to face another complicated file with Pogba’s salary.
