Because he fears too much to see him grappling with an unpleasant confrontation, “like when Jean, who has enormous talent, was caught in a shameful policy by Madame Royal, shame on her!” hit Nicolas Sarkozy, who considers that his son was “broken in his political momentum”. An accusation quickly reported to the ears of the main person concerned, who took over her X account (formerly Twitter) to respond sharply about twenty minutes later.
“I am told that Nicolas Sarkozy quoted me twice to attribute comments to me. I formally deny them”begins Ségolène Royal. Regarding the allegations regarding her attitude towards Jean Sarkozy, the politician who regrets not having been appointed to Matignon specifies: “I don’t know his son.” While calling for “respect the truth and people”Nicolas Sarkozy’s former opponent in the presidential race did not hesitate to add a tackle of her own: “We probably misinformed him: it’s rubbish and sectarian.” In another message published less than half an hour later, quoting her first post, Ségolène Royal added a layer: “But if Nicolas Sarkozy is nostalgic for 2007, we can have a live debate again!”

Nicolas Sarkozy and Ségolène Royal: a never-ending fight?
This is not the first time that the former head of state has virulently attacked his former political adversary, and that she has responded to him via X account. In 2019, in particular, when the book was released Passions by Nicolas Sarkozy, Ségolène Royal had very little appreciation for certain comments about him, in particular this sentence: “I wondered, particularly during the presidential debate between the two rounds, if she was showing incompetence out of political will, or if more likely she had neither the knowledge nor the understanding of the issues she was tackling.“ Furious, the politician posted a message on “unbelievable sexism, ridiculous incompetence trial”. Their antagonism does not seem ready to subside…
