Two videos, revealed by Mediapart, show Jean-Marie Le Pen, at his home in Rueil-Malmaison (Hauts-de-Seine), singing in the company of Match Retour, a Lyon rock group close to the neo-Nazi sphere.
Not “in condition” to appear
The founder of the National Front is indicted for embezzlement of public funds and complicity in the trial of parliamentary assistants of MEPs from the National Front (FN, which has since become the National Rally) which opened Monday in Paris.
But, unlike his daughter Marine Le Pen, the 96-year-old patriarch did not appear, an expert opinion having estimated that he was not “in condition” to be judged for health reasons. In one of the video extracts broadcast by Mediapart, filmed on Saturday, the former leader of the far-right party is surrounded by musicians from Match Retour.

One of the members of the group sings a song composed especially for him: “I’m going to make you run redhead, stop playing smart, I’m going to catch you, you won’t go far”, says the chorus in reference to the homophobic remarks held by Jean-Marie Le Pen against a hostile activist during a trip to Mantes-la-Jolie (Yvelines) in 1997. Another wears a t-shirt which diverts a cliché of the Hitler Youth trumpets and drums by hand.
According to Mediapart, Match Retour notably occurred, in May 2022, during a gathering in Sainte-Croix-aux-Mines (Haut-Rhin) in tribute to French SS killed by the French army in 1945. The group also organized, in November 2023, the clandestine “Rock antiwokisme” festival in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier (Isère), which was held despite prefectural bans.
The leader of the RN deputies, Marine Le Pen, contacted by the investigative newspaper, announced that she was filing a complaint for abuse of weakness against the group of musicians.
