The Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center has housed several high-profile detainees, including R. Kelly and Ghislaine Maxwell. In 2022, Kelly was placed on suicide watch in a federal detention center after being convicted of racketeering and sex trafficking.

Diddy was arrested on Monday, September 16 and charged the next day with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by coercion, fraud or coercion and transportation to engage in prostitution. The rapper pleaded not guilty hours after an indictment detailing his alleged sex crimes was revealed.

TMZ PRESENTS: THE FALL OF DIDDY

The “I’ll Be Lacking You” singer was twice denied bail, even after proposing a $50 million bail proposal that included GPS surveillance of his home on Star Island in Miami. Diddy’s team attempted to show the judge he was not a flight risk through his communications with the U.S. Attorney’s Office during the ongoing investigation.

Additionally, Diddy handed over his passport to his lawyer on April 1. His mother, Janice, and children Probability, Jessie, D’Lila and Love Combs each surrendered their passports under the proposed release on bail.

U.S. District Court Judge Andrew Carter raised the possibility that Diddy was tampering with witnesses in his reasoning for denying bail. The judge acknowledged that the prosecution had proven “by clear and convincing evidence that no single situation or set of situations existed” to ensure the safety of the community.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson highlighted Diddy’s long history of intimidation against his accusers and witnesses to his alleged abuse. Johnson claimed that text messages showed Combs forcing his victims to participate in sexual encounters that he described as “freak offs.” The rapper allegedly recorded the sexual acts and then used the videos as leverage to justify his silence.

Diddy and his employees “intimidated, threatened, and lured female victims into Comb’s orbit, often under the guise of a romantic relationship.” Combs then allegedly used pressure, threats of pressure, and coercion to get the victims to engage in prolonged sexual acts with sex workers that Combs called, among other things, “Freak Offs.” Diddy often provided intravenous fluids to his victims after “freak offs” to recover from physical exertion and drug use, according to the indictment.
