ATP – Beijing > Alcaraz, on the twist in the Sinner affair: “I think it’s really not a good sign, and not very good for tennis in general”

Visiting a press conference after his overwhelming victory against Tallon Griekspoor in the quarter-finals of the ATP 500 in Beijing, Carlos Alcaraz was inevitably questioned about the twist in the Jannik Sinner affair while the World Anti-Doping Agency has decided to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

And the Spaniard seems a little worried about the image of his sport.

“This is a very sensitive subject for Jannik and for tennis in general. I mean, after everything was decided, let’s say, before Cincinnati, the ITIA said Jannik Sinner said he didn’t do anything wrong, and now it comes back, it’s open again. I think it’s really not a good sign, and not very good for tennis in general. Looks like something happened. But, you know, after a month, let’s say, I thought that the case was closed, that nothing was going to happen again, that Jannik was innocent, and they saw that Jannik had done nothing wrong. So I started thinking about it and thinking about myself. This month, I didn’t know exactly what happened. I just saw the news and it surprised me a little. What is happening to get the case open again? I don’t know how this will happen in the coming months. For tennis, that’s for sure, it’s not a good sign. »
