Candidate for season 8 of “Married at First Sight”, Bastian, 29, from Genappe, captivated viewers from the first episode. But his marriage to Mélanie, 26, from Wasseiges, took place without the presence of his parents, a personal choice on which he confided in the program “They deserve to be in the newspaper” on bel RTL with Benjamin Maréchal.
This Sunday, January 19, Married at First Sight fans discovered the journey of Bastian, a salesman at Delhaize, and Mélanie, the candidate with whom he shares an 82.4% compatibility. This duo is one of the couples in this new season marked by the appearance of candidates in their fifties, proving that love has no age.
For Bastian, this adventure began by chance, after a conversation between sisters. “It was one of them who mentioned the show during a family walk in Hallewood, a few months after my breakup”he explains. Encouraged by this discussion, he took a chance, hoping to find love in a unique way.
A difficult choice
The first episode, however, revealed a striking feature: neither Bastian’s father nor mother were present at his wedding. A choice that raised a lot of questions.
“It’s a personal choice”confides Bastian. “I think it was better for me, to make me feel a little better about what we went through with my sisters. It’s nothing serious, but it’s things that touch you. Don’t not having his parents by his side at a time like this, it’s very sad”.

Even more surprising, his mother only learned yesterday that her son had gotten married. A decision that Bastian explains by his desire to avoid possible conflicts. “I think I was a little apprehensive about his reaction. I didn’t want to create more conflict”he adds.
Despite the absence of his parents, Bastian was able to count on the support of his sisters and on the adventure that he now shares with Mélanie. Could this marriage arranged by science turn into a lasting love story? Viewers will have to follow the next episodes to find out.
