Between July and October 2024, the inhabitants of Cucuron, Lauris, and Puyvert, in Vaucluse, suffered a series of burglaries targeting sheds, garages, and houses. The criminals stole electric bikes, tools, jewelry, bags and even cash, according to information from France 3 region.
The thefts, often committed at night, began on July 9 in Cucuronwith the looting of three sheds. In total, these misdeeds represent damage estimated at 50 000 euros.
A careful investigation to catch the suspects
After several months of technical and biological investigations, the gendarmes of the Cadenet brigade identified two brothers of Romanian origin, living in Marseille. Their modus operandi and the evidence collected made it possible to link them to all 16 burglaries recorded.
-The two individuals were arrested, placed in police custody, and one of them was presented before the Avignon judicial court.
Three years in prison for one of the brothers
During his immediate appearance, on Friday January 10, one of the brothers was sentenced to three years in prison, accompanied by a committal warrant and five years of inadmissibility. The second, hospitalized since the end of his police custody, will be judged later.
