Retired since the Masters final last November, after a career of almost 40 years in tennis, the famous referee Carlos Bernardes gave an interview to Tuttosport in which he felt the Big 3 would never be matched.

“What they were doing was impressive. Federer, Nadal and Djokovic were different people with different styles, but it was very special to see them up close. Their era, with Murray, Wawrinka, Del Potro, Ferrer and many others, was the greatest in tennis history. I also lived through the Sampras and Agassi years, but they were not as intense. And I don’t even think Sinner and Alcaraz can keep up with the big 3, who have been at the top for 20 years. Today everything is going too fast, I don’t think they can captivate the public as long as Roger, Rafa and Nole. »
