The doping cases concerning Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek are not ready to go away, and even if a suspension now seems almost impossible, the shadow of these positive tests will continue to hang over the Italian and the Pole.
Nick Kyrgios again criticized the difference in judgment between different players, but Karen Moorhouse, director of the ITIA, provided a little more clarification in an interview for Tennis365.
“The nature of the explanation provided and how quickly it responds will determine what part of our process and rules apply and how they are applied. If an athlete says they believe the positive test was due to a contaminated product and they have identified that product, we will then try to get our hands on any remaining part of that product and, ideally, a product of the same sealed batch that we can send to a WADA approved laboratory for analysis. Additionally, we may want to speak to the player to understand the circumstances in which they took the product, as this would allow us to assess the level of fault they may have had. The main thing here is to give the players every chance to explain the result and to help and support them wherever we can. »
