Having just announced their engagement, Alex De Minaur and Katie Boulter were surprised to see their respective countries, Great Britain and Australia, fall into the same group in the United Cup.
A curious coincidence, especially since they could even find themselves face to face on the court during the mixed doubles.
“It’s a difficult situation for both of us, but we’re starting very soon.”declared De Minaur at Daily Express. “There’s not a lot of preparation time. We're going to fly to Australia together and prepare together, and hopefully we can play some good Tennis. If you look at my doubles record, I've been 0–10 the last two years, so maybe I'm not the best option in doubles given that we have Matt Ebden coming off an Olympic gold medal. and a Grand Slam tournament this year (laughs). So I think he could take my place. I prefer to play with her as a partner rather than against her, let's put it that way. »
