On Instagram, Stefanos Tsitispas has decided to place part of his content behind a paid subscription. An influencer practice that is not unanimously accepted.
What is the norm for an influencer or content creator is not the norm for an athlete. At least not for the moment. As reported by TalkSport, Stefanos Tsitsipas is the target of criticism for having decided to make part of his public content paid for on his Instagram account.
On Instagram, large accounts can offer a subscription to their followers. For the 26-year-old Greek Tennis player, the price is set at 6.99 euros per month. Paying subscribers, who are distinguished by a purple icon with a crown, can then access exclusive content (messages, stories, publications, real, broadcast channels). In the story feed, non-subscribers are informed that they must subscribe to have access to the content offered to them.
30 million euros won on the courts
Fans of Stefanos Tsitsipas discovered this novelty on Wednesday November 27, when he announced a question-and-answer session in a live on Instagram, but also gifts including a pass to attend the four Grand Slam tournaments.
“Stef, I've been your fan for six years and money can't buy that. You should do this for everyone, not just your followers,” one fan blasted. Others notably pointed out that the practice was all the more unfair given his comfortable career earnings, which amount to 30 million euros.
This little bad buzz is perhaps what pushed Stefanos Tsitsipas to delete this ad on his X account. On the other hand, subscriptions on Instagram have not disappeared.
