Romanian Simona Halep, sanctioned in October 2022 and suspended for nine months, published a message on Instagram on Thursday where she denounces double standards, after the announcement of Iga Swiatek's positive test.
While Iga Swiatek's positive test was revealed this Thursday, reactions continue to fall. Among these reactions, that of Simona Halep will get people talking. The former world number 1 published a long message on his Instagram account. In this message, she compares her case to that of the Polish player. As a reminder, she was suspended in October 2022 then suspended for four years before seeing her sanction reduced to 9 months after her appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. “I sit and try to understand but it's really impossible for me to understand something like that. Why is there such a big difference in treatment and judgment? I don't find and don't think there can be a logical answer. This can only be bad will on the part of the ITIA (International Tennis Integrity Agency)the organization that did absolutely everything to destroy me despite the evidence” she wrote in her message. Halep talks about the temporary suspension she had to undergo and the time she needed to prove that she had been contaminated. The ITIA has already recognized that Swiatek's positive test was due to contamination of its drug with melatonin.
