During his very long absence, Nick Kyrgios donned the costume of consultant, notably for the BBC during the last US Open.

In comments reported by the Daily Mailthe Wimbledon 2022 finalist gave his vision of the position.

“I’m not a very critical commentator. I don't like it when commentators criticize players too much, because it's not easy at the moment, the game is very physical. I think we need to rework the commentary a bit. I guess when you've actually played, and you know the level on Futures and Challengers, like the number of players globally, you understand how difficult it is to rank among the top 128 players to participate in a Grand Slam. Our job as commentators is to study these players and learn about the players' backgrounds. We can't just promote the same players over and over again. There are good players that no one knows. »
