The ATP thought it was doing the right thing by organizing the Masters 1000 over ten days. However, everyone, and especially the players, explain that this choice is absurd and above all counterproductive.

Stefanos Tsitsipas summed it up well after his experience at the Rolex Masters, one of the rare Masters 1000 to have retained a classic format.

“The two weeks of Masters 1000 became a real ordeal. The quality has clearly declined. Players don't get the recovery or training time they need, with constant matches and no space for intense work off the court. It's ironic that the ATP committed to this format without knowing if it could really improve the schedule, but also the quality. Paris succeeded, in a week. Exciting and easy to follow. Exactly how it should be. If the objective was to shorten the schedule, extending every 1000 to two weeks is a step backwards. Sometimes it feels like they're fixing what wasn't broken. »
