Already absent from the Rolex Masters in Bercy, the Serbian, defending champion, is skipping the tournament bringing together the eight best players of the season, next week in Italy.

Anything but a surprise. He was stuck at Bercy. He will not be in Turin. Novak Djokovic announced on Tuesday on his social networks that he was withdrawing from the ATP Masters which will take place from November 10 to 17 in the north-west of Italy. “Due to injury I will not play next week. My apologies to those who had planned to come see me. I wish all players a good tournament, see you soon”wrote the 37-year-old Serbian on his Instagram account, without specifying its nature.

This “injury”, of the double title holder, aged 37, corresponds above all to the desire of the man with 24 Grand Slam titles, to already plan for 2025. Turin was not part of his plans. He turns the page on a strange season where the 37-year-old champion suffered physically, including an operation on his right meniscus just before Wimbledon. Finalist in London (swept by Carlos Alcaraz), the record holder for Grand Slam titles (24) ends his season without the slightest Major to pin on his maddening tally, a first since 2017.

Without a title on the circuit, a first since… 2005. And if the Serbian is well below his standards in 2024, he has nevertheless reached his holy grail by being crowned Olympic champion for the first time this summer in Paris.

«No» occupies 6th place in «The Race»the annual ATP ranking which determines the eight participants in the Masters. His withdrawal puts an end to the suspense over the names of the last three participants: in addition to Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev and Taylor Fritz, already guaranteed to participate, Casper Ruud, Alex de Minaur and Andrey Rublev now have their ticket in his pocket for the final tournament of the season.
