Not spared from certain criticism following his attitude considered a little too demonstrative during his victory against Karen Khachanov in the semi‐finals of the Masters 1000 at ‐Bercy this Saturday evening while the Russian was injured, Ugo Humbert wanted to respond publicly to this little controversy.

Aware that this could have been misinterpreted, Ugo made a point of apologizing, particularly to the person concerned who did not hesitate to arrange to meet the Frenchman for their next duel.

” Hello everyone. I wanted to express myself following the controversy after my semi‐final against Karen. After the physiotherapist's intervention, I perceived it as cramps, being on the verge of having them myself after more than 2.5 hours of intense match. I lost other matches this year in similar circumstances and this time I stayed very focused on the goal. I am sorry to see that this has been misunderstood and, worse, described as a lack of fair play on my part. I contacted him personally to apologize. I have great respect for Karen and for all the opponents I have had to meet so far. This will serve as a lesson for me to act better in the future. Thank you to everyone who showed me their support this week. She taught me a lot in every way. A quick word also to share my disappointment at not being able to defend my title in , where I will spend some time this week. See you soon, Ugo »wrote Humbert on his Instagram account.
