Tennis: Sabalenka still at the top of the WTA rankings

Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka remains at the top of the WTA world rankings, where she dethroned Polish Iga Swiatek last week, with Jessica Pegula giving up fourth place to Italian Jasmine Paolini, according to the rankings published Monday.

Behind the American Coco Gauff (3rd), Paolini took advantage, without having played, of Pegula's loss of points who fell to sixth place. A decisive crossover as the WTA Masters approaches, which will pit the eight best players of the season against each other from November 2 to 9 in Riyadh.

Among the rare players at the top of the ranking to have participated in tournaments last week, the Chinese Zheng Qinwen, who won the WTA 500 tournament in Tokyo on Sunday, remains in 7th place.

Another winner of the weekend, the Serbian Olga Danilovic, who won in Canton (WTA 250), gained 34 places and is now ranked 52nd in the world.
