Tennis: World No. 1 Iga Swiatek parting ways with coach

The Polish Iga Swiatek, current world No. 1 in the WTA rankings, announced this Friday that she had separated from her coach Tomasz Wiktorowski.

“After three years of the greatest successes in my career, we decided with coach Tomasz Wiktorowski to end our collaboration”wrote the tenniswoman in a post on Instagram.

Swiatek had withdrawn two weeks ago from the tournament Beijing of which she was the title holder, citing “personal reasons”.

“I want to start with the thanks which are, for me, the most important today”she said in her message.

“His experience, his analytical and strategic attitude and his enormous knowledge of tennis have helped us achieve things that I would never have dreamed of just a few months after the start of our collaboration”emphasized Swiatek about his ex-coach.

“Given this important change for me, I am giving myself the next few weeks to begin a collaboration with a new coach”she wrote again, indicating that discussions were being held “with foreign coaches”.

“I will signal when I make the decision”indicated Iga Swiatek who has held the top spot in the world rankings since November 2023. The 23-year-old has won five Grand Slam singles titles, including four Roland-Garros.
