Medvedev opposed to Cobolli in the quarterfinals
Mannarino’s great merit is to have achieved an excellent second half of the first set. Quickly trailing 1-4, he pulled back to 4 all, before posing a threat by dominating the vast majority of long rallies. Strangely, Medvedev made a lot of unforced errors on the backhand (13 in two sets, out of a total of 26). The Russian had to erase two break points at 5-5, then a set point at 5-6 in the tie-break. The extreme quality of his service got him out of trouble. A backhand foul from Mannarino folded the first set.
