At the Sirah in Lyon, the world Mecca of catering, two Aveyron residents have achieved a real feat. In this show which attracts the elite of world catering, which gives pride of place to the most prestigious competitions, the Millavois Baptiste Jacob on the one hand, in bakery, and the Ruthénoise Fabienne Célard on the other hand, in cheeses, have succeeded to climb onto the podium of the French Cup in their specialty.
Third, then second
After third place in 2023, Millavois Baptiste Jacob, within the same trio formed with Benjamin Auriau and Yannis Thouy, managed to finish in second place, behind Pays de la Loire, who emerged victorious, and just ahead of Auvergne Rhône Alps. This, while showing himself to be as sharp as he is creative in his specialty: pastries. It was the president of the national bakery confederation, Dominique Anract, who presented the prize.
Then, this Sunday at the end of the day, it was the Ruthenian cheese maker who was in the running, with seven other competitors.

Since the day she made the decision to compete again in this competition, she did not hide her goal: to get on the podium. The bet was won, since it was on the third step that she managed to climb, after the general knowledge tests, cutting, compulsory board and the presentation of “her” board. She had chosen for this last event to put the perail in the spotlight, after opting for the laguiole grand aubrac in 2019, where she missed the podium.
Fabienne Célard was beaten by Jules Mercier, a young cheese maker in Annecy, and Matthieu Thuillier, from Brive. It is for this one that we can see in particular on the Rodez market the culmination of long months of preparation, during which she mobilized her team and brought in her wake various local artisans for the creation of her tray. It was with a broad smile and the members of her “Terres Fromageres” team that she posed with her tray and the diploma which was awarded to her. “I’m having trouble landing.”she commented at the end of the test. “ It’s really superb!”
