“My partner withdrew at the last moment”: Maxime Dereymez explains why he is not in the casting of the next season of “Dancing with the Stars”

Two weeks before the grand launch of the fourteenth season of “Dancing with the Stars”, to be followed from February 7 at 9:10 p.m. on TF1, the cast of dancers is being revealed little by little. That of celebrities has been made official by the channel with twelve personalities who will compete to win the trophy. The swimmer Florent Manaudou, the footballers Adil Rami and Frank Leboeuf, the former academic star Lénie, the actress Charlotte de Turckheim, Miss 2024 Ève Gilles, the host Sophie Davant, one of the revelations of “Un p' “something more” Mayane, the adventurer of “Koh-Lanta” Claude Dartois, the sports journalist Nelson Monfort as well as the singers Julie Zenatti and Jungeli will try to succeed Natasha St-Pier and Anthony Colette, winners of the 2024 edition.

“We have to move on”

However, the production has not yet revealed who the celebrities will dance with. The identities of the twelve professional dancers are also not known. Some have nevertheless already announced their renewal or, where applicable, their absence. Christophe Licata announced to “Parisien” that he will ultimately be in the game despite the clash last season between his partner Inès Reg and his opponents Natasha St-Pier and Anthony Colette. The latter, despite being the reigning champion, regretted not having been selected for this 2025 edition: “It would be a lie to pretend that I voluntarily chose to end this adventure now. I'm also not going to pretend that it was the right time, because I haven't decided anything“, he confided on his Instagram account on January 15.

This Thursday, January 24, 2025, another emblematic dancer from the show spoke to justify his absence this season: “My employment contract was ready. Bad luck, my partner withdrew at the last moment“, explained Maxime Dereymez in an exclusive interview with “Closer” magazine on newsstands this Friday, January 24. The artist was part of the program for twelve seasons and was crowned once, with Shy'm (2011). He finished second with Sofia Essaïdi in 2011 for the very first edition, ultimately won by M. Pokora and Katrina Patchett. Last year, he rose to fourth place alongside drag queen Keiona.

Maxime Dereymez did not reveal the identity of his partner who failed him.out of respect for her“. “But I can tell you that our duo would have been fantastic“, he added. And added that no other offer was made to him to stay in the dance competition: “SAccording to the production, no other profile matched mine. I'm not looking to find out more. And then, sincerely, it's a blessing in disguise“, affirmed the choreographer, who said to himself “very tired as (his) nights are short with the rehearsals of 'Good News'“, the new musical comedy from his company D'pendanse, which he wrote and directed. So will we one day see Maxime Dereymez on the floor of “Dancing with the Stars”? Nothing is less certain : “You have to evolve, move on“, affirmed the artist, who said he experienced “exceptional moments with Keiona“last year.”I think it was my last season“, he concluded.
