“From Béarn to Landes”. This was the theme of the week of this competition, on air for a twelfth edition. The opportunity first of all for viewers to discover numerous images of Béarn, through the towns visited.

And more than just a postcard, it was a real spotlight on the beauty and richness of the territory. Much more, in any case, than the look of other shows or fiction, or even the shots that are always a little sparse offered during the Tour de cycling…

But above all it was a beautiful spotlight on the work of the artisan bakers and pastry chefs who were in the running. As we detailed about ten days ago, from Monday to Friday, there were ten of them competing to seduce the jury made up of Bruno Cormerais, Noëmie Honiat and Michel Sarran. Including seven Béarnais businesses.

Before the last episode of this Friday evening, which pitted a Basque bakery against a Landes one, we already knew the three Béarnaises still in the running after the duels broadcast every evening (6:35 p.m.) since Monday.

The results of the duels

On Monday, after the four scheduled tests (the product tasted in the store, the favorite product, the signature bread and the jury’s challenge), it was “Temptations et mignardises”, Thierry’s bakery in Navailles-Angos which came first, with an average of 8.4 out of 10, “Origine”, the bakery of Mathieu and Cindy in Lons (8 out of 10).

The next day, Tuesday, “Reizabal”, Sébastien’s bakery in Monein, obtained a very good score of 9.3 out of 10, winning ahead of “A noste”, Pierre and Sarah’s bakery in Arthez-de-Béarn (8 .2 out of 10).

On Wednesday, “Pain de sel”, the Salisian bakery of Marie-Ange and Séverine, had not managed to beat the Landes competitor of the day (8.1) with its score of 7.4. And on Thursday, “Aux Délices du golf”, the bakery of Damien and Mathias in Billère, won its duel with a score of 8.3, against “La Vallée du Pain”, the bakery of Grégory and Julie in Laruns (7 ,8).

This Friday’s duel did not turn the tables, despite the qualification of the Landes brand. The jury highly appreciated the work and products of the Reizabal bakery. And he didn’t hesitate too much in naming her this week’s big winner.

The favorite product seduced

“A favorite for each member of the jury” commented Bruno Cormerais. Particularly for the favorite product that Sébastien presented, a trompe-l’oeil peach made from a pastry.

So here he is propelled towards the final round, which should be broadcast before July. This baker from Monein will try to imitate Grangé, winner of the 10th edition, whom the jury also returned to see in the episode broadcast last Monday.

“We didn’t expect it. We have pressure, but we are going to give everything,” commented the members of the Reizabal bakery at the end of the show.
