For the time being, this beta is only available on Google Pixel devices that have joined the Android Beta program. If you have a smartphone from another manufacturer or are not registered in the Android beta program, it will be necessary to be patient a little longer. Anyway, this beta allows you to introduce a whole bunch of changes to the operating system.

Android 16 is there (but not for everyone)
First, one of the most striking additions of this first beta is the abolition of the possibility for applications (except games) to restrict the orientation of the screen and the resize on the screens of Large size. Google's explanation is quite clear: “On screens over 600DP wide, applications targeting the level of API 36 will have resumidable application windows; You must check your applications to make sure that your existing interfaces adapt perfectly, by working well both in portrait and landscape mode. We provide frameworks, tools and libraries to help you“Indicates the manufacturer. For the time being, on the level of API 36, the application developers can disengage from such a practice, but it will become compulsory from API 37.
-Android 16 also introduces the management of the Advanced Professional Video (APV) codec. Developed by Samsung, this codec supports high binary flows, lossless quality and other advanced features. That's not all: Android 16 also adds a lot of accessibility functions. Overall, for an average user, this beta 1 of Android 16 will have little interest. On the other hand, on the developer side, it risks being important to prepare quietly for the final arrival of Android 16 in a few months. It is recalled that the public version of Android 16 should be available from the second quarter, with another major update scheduled for the end of the year.
