The creators of Poppy Playtime sue Google – News

Poppy Playtime is a well-known horror game now available on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and mobile. On this last medium, we can also find a certain number of chapters – as on the others, but you will quickly understand why it is the mobile that interests us here. If we look closely, we can see that there was a change of developer along the way. If the first chapters are signed Mob Entertainmentit is to a certain Daigo Game 2020 Inc that a chapter 3 and a chapter 4 are assigned to Poppy Playtime. Same name, same DA, same gameplay… It’s so big that we say to ourselves that it must be normal. A simple change of studio name, for example. Well no, they are pure counterfeits, left for free download on the Google Play Store. Which did not fail to irritate Mob Entertainment.

Poppy Playtime was released in October 2021 and garners very positive reviews on Steam

Imitations which deceive players by luring them with a chapter 4, which is nevertheless still under development at Mob Entertainment and scheduled for January 30, 2025. What’s more, these poor quality counterfeits tarnish, according to Mob, the image of the studio. Especially since Daigo must get a little ticket out of it – and Google at the same time. Her Poppy Playtime: Chapter 3 has been downloaded over a million times. We can therefore understand the irritation of the studio, which says, in addition, that it has already filed numerous complaints asserting the DMCA. According to the studio, the games Daigo were removed from the store for a time before returning to the platform. It is true in any case that they are still available at the time of writing these lines.

Note that Daigo Game 2020 Inc This is not his first attempt. In its list of titles, we indeed find a certain Minicraft 2020which looks strangely like Minecraft. It remains to be seen whether this affair will succeed and whether it will have consequences on the somewhat cheeky proposal of Daigo Game 2020 Incor on the Google Play Store policy. We are certainly not facing a legal epic similar to that which pitted Google against Epic Games, but it seems that a very small stone can break a large jar. So let’s follow this closely.
