Android 16: the first beta could arrive very soon

We know: Google plans to completely shake up its release schedule for its major Android updates. So Android 15, which arrived late at the end of last year, should ultimately have a fairly short lifespan. So, while Android 15 is still a long way from being installed on most eligible devices, we are already talking about Android 16. Especially since today, a contributor to the AndroidAuthority site spotted information interesting about a very first beta for the new major Android update.

Android 16 soon available in beta

According to Google’s official Android 16 release schedule, the first beta will roll out this month, followed by the second beta update in February and the third in March. The calendar does not mention specific dates at the moment (but we are already at the end of January, so the commissioning should be imminent). On the other hand, Android Authority contributor Assemble Debug spotted a comment on Android Gerrit in which a Google employee reveals that Android 16 Beta 3 will roll out on March 12.

Here’s what the Google employee specifically said: “Beta 2 is going to be complicated, given that the changes are scheduled for January 22, which won’t give us enough time to do quality testing (QA) unless we include it in this week’s prebuild. Beta 3 changes are scheduled for February 19, but Beta 3 won’t be released until March 12, almost the same time as the deadline for bug fixes“. In other words, the coming weeks should be interesting for all fans of new Android features.
