RTX 5090 and 5080: first tests from January 24, availability on the 30th?

As is often the case with each launch of a new generation of graphics cards, our colleagues at VideoCardz claim to have had little voices whispering into their ears information normally subject to embargo. Today’s news could be of great interest to you, since it would be the end dates of NDA on the tests of GeForce graphics cards RTX 5090 et RTX 5080the famous Blackwell announced on January 6 at the opening of CES in Las Vegas. During its presentation, NVIDIA announced a single date: January 30, 2025 for the two graphics cards, specifying that this would be their availability on that date. But what about testing?

According to VideoCardz, the GeForce RTX 5090 would be the first released from its embargo on Friday January 24, probably at 3 p.m. in as NVIDIA often does. NVIDIA has recently had the habit of postponing by one day the tests of cards which do not respect its official price (as a reminder: $1999 for the RTX 5090) but this would not be the case this time, and all the tests of RTX 5090, whatever they may be, would therefore be released from any confidentiality clause as of Friday the 24th.

Six days later, on January 30, it would be the turn of the GeForce RTX 5080 to have the right to his tests in the media. Here again no distinction between models respecting the recommended price of $999 and those which would be more expensive, all the tests would be authorized to be published this same Thursday 30, probably again at 3 p.m. here. At exactly the same time, in-store availability should begin, for both cards simultaneously.

If you’re thinking “what about the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070?”, remember that NVIDIA has warned that their launch will take place during the month of February. We do not yet have any additional details on this subject.

To recap the VideoCardz rumor:
• Tests of all GeForce RTX 5090: Friday January 24, 2025.
• Tests of all GeForce RTX 5080: Thursday January 30, 2025.
• Availability of all GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080: Thursday January 30, 2025.
