Van Cleef & Arpels, Rolex, Bvlgari… Who are the stars of jewelry resale?

In its recent “Clair Report”, the second-hand platform Rebag looks back at the players in jewelry and watches who have experienced the greatest enthusiasm in recent months on the second-hand market.

Van Cleef & Arpels, licorne de 2024

Just as with luxury bags, unicorns are rare in the jewelry and watch product resale sector. In the very closed circle of Houses which, on average, see their resale prices reach at least 90% of new prices, we find the manufacture Rolex (100%) or Van Cleef & Arpels. In recent months, the jeweler’s pieces have in fact been resold for an average of 104% of their original price. And if the collection Alhambra has experienced a very particular craze, the brand has the particularity of having demonstrated a certain homogeneity in the desirability of its models since, on the market of pre-owned, “almost all collections have preserved at least 98% of their initial value”specifies the study.

Birthday creations at the top of the list

If these figures constitute an average per brandcertain models in particular saw their love rating explode in 2024.

Among them, the report highlights the rise in demand for creatives Snakes of Bvlgari. Boosted by the campaigns celebrating the 140th anniversary of the collection, pieces summoning the famous snake have taken off on the second-hand market. At the top of the most requested items, we find the ring Viper Two-Coil which resells on average for 113% of its original price, the bracelet Viper (84% of the original price) or the watch Tubogas double spiral (80% of its original value) spotted in particular on the wrist of content creator Léna Mahfouf (Léna Situations) for her entry into the Grévin museum last December. Enough to stimulate appetite for the Italian House while overall, the resale value of Bvlgari creations has increased by +66% in 2024, compared to +9% the previous year.

Also note the progression of Tiffany & Co. as a safe bet in terms of investment: last year, the American jeweler’s models saw their resale prices rise by +58% on average, compared to +8% in 2023. Among the most prominent creations on the second-hand market, we find the headline Bone Cuff signed by Elsa Peretti: highlighted by the celebration of its 50th anniversary, the jewel saw its resale value exceed its original price (103%).

In 2025, several anniversaries should mark the watchmaking and jewelry sector: the 25th anniversary of lamontre J12 of Chanel, the 40th anniversary of Pasha by Cartier… So many creations to keep an eye out for on the second-hand market.
