After a very good C845 in 2023, TCL is renewing its mid-range with a 55C89B – 55-inch (127 cm) version of the 65C89B that we tested – which promises to be just as interesting in terms of value for money. It features an ultra-bright 144 Hz Mini-Led panel, an Onkyo 2.2.1 sound system and Google TV OS.

In line with the C845, TCL is still hitting hard in 2024 with a 55C89B – 55-inch (127 cm) version of the 65C89B that we tested – good in everything and which even excels in certain areas. This Mini-Led television is almost at the level of some very high-end televisions from the competition with a significantly lower price, and we can clearly say that its value for money is simply remarkable. Its bright peak and contrasts are enormous, its calibration is solid and its new audio system impresses. Everything is not perfect that said, with reflections still a little too marked, blooming still present (Mini-Led technology requires) and a few points that could be improved in terms of ergonomics.
NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude the prices of stores whose the VAT policy is not clear (so-called “gray” stores, typically in the case of imports from China).
An alternative
The 65U7NQ (or 65U79NQ) from Hisense is quite a good surprise. The television proves to be versatile and offers good image quality, as well as good predispositions for gaming. It is also not perfect and suffers from some flaws, particularly in terms of audio and design, but it offers very good value for money considering the service offered. You will have to look at the more advanced 65U8NQ or competing Oled models to find better… but more expensive.
