A subsidiary of the Actia group, Actia Railway specializes in the design and marketing of technological solutions dedicated to rail mobility (trains, trams and metros) by highlighting innovation. “ Our innovations relate in particular to the development of solutions dedicated to the real-time supervision of video surveillance, in advanced AI image analysis and processing functionalities and in ever more innovative passenger information systems for intelligent mobility, connected, safe and sustainable », indicates Sylvain Léon, General Manager. A policy which led this French company to develop a revolutionary on-board display system.
An innovation from the automobile
In partnership with the Toulouse start-up Eyelights, this innovation is based on the replacement of traditional screens on board trains with compact and ultra-bright micro-projectors. Coming from the automotive sector, this solution allows high quality images to be projected onto various media, including transparent surfaces such as windows. A technology which provides a response to the specific needs of the railway sector and whose advantages are numerous, in particular a significant reduction in energy consumption, thus significantly reducing the carbon footprint of on-board systems. It also guarantees optimal visibility for users, whatever the light conditions, thanks to its high brightness. “ Our solution provides an enriched experience with smarter, more scalable and more economical on-board infotainment », continues Sylvain Léon. Finally, benefiting from its exceptional compactness (that of a shoebox), the integration of this solution is a major asset for original equipment manufacturers (OEM).
Promising potential
Although still in the development phase, this innovation has already aroused keen interest from visitors to the Innotrans 2024 exhibition, who were able to discover it in the form of a functional prototype. By revealing the potential of this revolutionary display to the entire railway sector, there is no doubt that it will be adopted on a large scale. “ This innovation embodies the future of on-board display systems: efficient, ecological and perfectly adapted to the requirements of modern railways », concludes Sylvain Léon.
