Restyled last year, the 911 is gradually completing the range of its emblematic sports car. After the Carrera and Carrera GTS T-Hybrid, the GT3 as well as the Carrera T, here is now the new revised Carrera S.
When you want a Porsche 911, you often have a plethora of options to choose from. However, since it went on the operating table for its mid-career facelift, the 992 range no longer showed as much generosity. Don’t worry, the Stuttgart manufacturer likes to reveal them little by little. After the 911 Carrera and GTS T-Hybrid revealed at launch, the GT3, GT3 Touring and Carrera T discovered in October, here comes the turn of the Carrera S!
More powerful
Its “S” is not there by chance, it indicates that it isa sportier variant than the entry-level modelthe Carrera in short. And indeed, the 3.0 flat 6-cylinder engine is clearly more powerful since it goes from 394 hp and 450 Nm of torque to 480 hp and 530 Nm of torque. Compared to the old Carrera S, it’s 30 hp better. Not negligible.
In fact, even if it is far from being the most powerful 911, it does not lag behind. It reaches a top speed of 308 km/h and pass 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds with the imposed 8-speed PDK gearbox. This is significantly better than the Carrera without “S” which does not exceed the 300 km/h mark and goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just over 4 seconds. Fans will appreciate it!
-Equipment and options geared towards sportiness
We didn’t talk about it but very smart will be the one who knows how to distinguish this Carrera S from the other 911s. There is however a detail that does not deceive. At the back, there are oval-shaped exhaust outlets. For the rest, it has specific 20 and 21 inch rims or evena silver-colored sports exhaust. She also benefits from Carrera GTS braking system with red calipers and large discs (408 mm at the front, 380 mm at the rear).
Folding rear seats available as a free option on the coupe and standard on the 911 Carrera S Cabriolet. THE matrix headlights and the rwireless charging for smartphone are also entering the endowment.
“That” €60,000 penalty
As always, you’ll need a deep wallet to afford it. Count €157,300 for the coupe model et €171,500 for the convertible version. And obviously, that’s without counting the penalty of €60,000. The good news in this story, however, is that it could have amounted to €70,000 if the government had not fallen last month…
