Shure unveils the MV7i, the first microphone with an integrated audio interface

The American manufacturer Shure presented its new MV7i microphone on January 7 at CES 2025, an innovation that combines a professional quality microphone with an integrated audio interface. This two-in-one solution aims to simplify the recording process for content creators.

This release, announced during CES 2025, coincides with the centennial of Shure, which this year celebrates its hundred years of innovation in the field of professional audio. Thus, the new Shure MV7i microphone stands out for its ability to manage two simultaneous recording channels without additional hardware.

The device includes an XLR/Jack combo input allowing direct connection of a second microphone or an instrument, with a gain of up to 60 dB and 48V phantom power. This configuration eliminates the need for an external audio interface, reducing the bulk and complexity of the setup.

Automatic calibration and source type detection

SmartGate technology, developed by Shure, automatically calibrates gain based on proximity, volume and sound dynamics. The system instantly detects the type of source connected and applies the appropriate DSP settings to optimize recording.

The MV7i inherits the sound qualities of the brand’s MV7+ microphone while adding interesting functions. Thus, the microphone has a real-time noise reduction system and a digital pop filter called “Popper Stopper”. Three types of reverb are available.

The Motiv Mix application, available on computer and mobile devices, allows you to control all microphone parameters. It offers three distinct output modes: Mixdown mode for direct mono mixing, Multitrack mode to keep tracks separate, and Stereo mode particularly suited to voice-overs with background sound.

Wide compatibility

MFi-certified USB-C connectivity ensures compatibility with Mac, Windows and select mobile devices, including iPhone and iPad. The microphone integrates with any digital audio workstation (DAW) and streaming platform, providing maximum flexibility for creators.

Note the presence of a metal chassis, inspired by the legendary SM7B, which guarantees durability and reliability. The customizable LED touch panel makes it easy to control mute and display levels during recording sessions or live broadcasts.
