The public's enthusiasm for video projectors must have inspired Aurzen. A specialist in projection, the manufacturer unveils its ZIP at CES 2025. Not to be confused with Samsung's Galaxy Z FLIP smartphone, which it may resemble, the ZIP invites its user to enjoy a whole galaxy of content, while having a huge advantage: this projo, which folds into three, fits in the pocket!

200 grams for 65 inches

It will never be more than a small auxiliary projector, but the Aurzen ZIP is one of those highly desirable gadgets that you come across randomly in the aisles of the CES electronics show in Las Vegas.

Measuring 8.4 x 7.8 x 2.6 cm, weighing approximately 200 g and foldable into three parts for storage (but also to direct its lens when in use), the device serves as a DLP projector.

Its technical sheet will not make its elders green with envy: the image produced is only HD (720 p), with a diagonal that can still reach 65 inches (165 cm) with a distance of 2.50 meters.

Limited luminosity

Here, no on-board Google . The user can either project the screen of their smartphone connected wirelessly using AirLink technology (which allows access to almost everything!), or use an adapter sold as an option for around a hundred euros (for them graft a Blu-Ray player or games console). On the sound side, only 1 watt, but it is possible to add a Bluetooth headset to the little projo.

Finally, the brightness of ZIP is… 100 lumens. Not much, if we take into account that you need around 2,000 lumens to be able to project a quality image in broad daylight.

Charging via USB-C, ZIP would have a battery life of approximately 1h30. An auxiliary device, indeed. But who can find occasional applications while out and about or in the office, especially since ZIP can project content in Landscape format, but also Portrait, like that of TikTok.

199 euros instead of 399 euros

Its manufacturer Aurzen, who launched its development on Kickstarter, hoped to raise the absurd sum of 4,811 euros (!), an amount already largely exceeded by the contributors who hope to win by March (when it will be marketed). , the ZIP for an investment of only 199 euros (instead of 399 euros).

Only the first two hundred will be served.

A little history to conclude (because it's always good to know where you come from, if you don't know where you're going)… Twelve years ago, Samsung presented its Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Galaxy Beam, a smartphone running Android 2.3 with 4-inch WVGA touchscreen (480 x 800 pixels), a 5-megapixel rear photo sensor (1.3 megapixels on the front!), a removable 2,000-capacity battery Mah. Above all, the smartphone that the ZIP reminds us of today integrated a pico projector (640 x 360 pixels) with a brightness of 15 lumens. Yes, fifteen lumens! The Galaxy Beam was then sold for 500 euros. The current price of a good Full HD living room projector, like the MoGo 3 Pro from Xgimi.
