CES in Las Vegas is in full swing these days, which also means that there are undoubtedly some announcements related to the automotive industry. In the camp of the SHM company (for Sony Honda Mobility), the brand’s first production car has finally been revealed to the general public.
Simply named AFEELA 1, the five-door sedan will even be available for purchase in 2025 with the first deliveries expected somewhere in 2026 in California, United States. In fact, it is already possible for customers to reserve their copy of the car via a refundable deposit of $200.
The first photos of the car confirm that the design department has not changed much in the face of the first concepts of the electric sedan. The assembly of the car will also be carried out by a factory based in Ohio, in the United States.
The starting price of the AFEELA 1 is $89,900 for the Origin level, while it will cost $102,900 to drive the Signature variant again. The two liveries of the model come automatically with a three-year subscription to AFEELA Intelligent Drive, a driving assistance system. Also note the 5G connectivity, as well as the AFEELA Personal Agent, a selection of entertaining content and themes to personalize the vehicle.
The AFEELA 1 Signature is still distinguished by its 21-inch rims, but also by its pair of screens installed on the backs of the front seats, as well as the C-CMS (for Center Camera Monitoring System). The choice of colors for the bodywork is however limited, SHM which will only offer three colors: Tidal Gray, Calm White and Core Black. The Signature livery can be equipped with a gray or black interior.
Compatible with the Tesla terminal network, the AFEELA 1 would be capable of covering an estimated distance of 482 km before having to stop for a recharge.
It will be very interesting to follow the evolution of this other electric car project, because the two founding brands, Sony and Honda, already have several years of experience in the economic arena.
