How SwitchBot wants to become an essential connected home brand at CES 2025
The world of robot vacuum cleaners seemed to have reached maturity, between intelligent navigation and automatic emptying stations. This was without counting on SwitchBot, which unveils its K20+ Pro at CES 2025. This newcomer does not just aspire: it becomes a real mobile home assistant thanks to an innovation.
A robot vacuum cleaner that transforms into a mobile platform
At the heart of this innovation is the Fusion platform, the true cornerstone of the system. It is a small rolling table that attaches to the robot using the ClawLock system. This platform allows you to transform the K20+ Pro into a mobile base capable of transporting up to 8 kg of equipment or objects throughout your home.
The idea is simple, but effective: why limit a robot capable of intelligently moving around your home to just one task? SwitchBot therefore offers several kits which considerably extend the possibilities. For example, you can install a Pan/Tilt Kam Plus surveillance camera (2K or 3K) on the platform, creating a mobile security system that patrols your home.
The manufacturer goes even further by offering a kit including an air purifier. Your robot can not only clean the floor, but also purify the air room by room. A version with a circulation fan is also planned, called K20+ Pro Air Flow.
The technical base is not left out: the K20+ Pro has a d-ToF lidar navigation system for precise mapping and effective obstacle detection. Compatible with the main voice assistants (Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri), it integrates perfectly into an existing home automation ecosystem.
The possibilities seem endless: transporting a laundry basket, delivering drinks, mobile tablet support… SwitchBot opens the way to many creative uses that go far beyond the traditional framework of the robot vacuum cleaner.
It now remains to know the price, which the manufacturer has not yet revealed. If the price remains reasonable, the K20+ Pro could well represent a new standard in the world of domestic robots, proving that with a little imagination, even the most common devices can be reinvented.
