Located in Cap Costières, this room, open seven days a week, was inaugurated on December 18.
Although it is hidden on one side of Cap Costières, the new Eva room (for E-sports virtual arenas) did not take long to find its clientele. “We opened on December 18 and, since then, we have been full every day”rejoices Alexis Pealat who, with his partner Anis Benmohammed, launched the concept in Nîmes. A concept that already exists in more than fifty cities in France and around the world, and which is likely to become even more talked about in the coming weeks.
“We are going to embody the character”
But first, what is Eva? “It’s a game where you play the character”describes Alexis Pealat. Equipped with a virtual reality headset and a weapon in which the controller is hidden, the player finds himself in the heart of a 500 m² arena, facing other players. As for the story, two possibilities: After-H Battle Arena, a war game in a futuristic world (not recommended for under 12s), with several levels, or Moon of the dead, a cooperation game, up to for 10 players, where they must survive against zombies (not recommended for under 16s). “I have to admit that this one is quite scary. There's a lot of screaming. Some even had to stop mid-game because it's very immersive. We must be at 30 or 40% success at the moment”smiles the manager. Games that last almost 40 minutes. “And the subscription is recommended because it allows you to have more weapons in particular”he adds.
Start of the regional league at the end of January
But that's not all. “There are also Battle Passes, which allow you to benefit from a certain number of sessions at reduced prices, but also to participate in the E-sport league”adds Alexis Pealat. Moreover, the next regional league begins at the end of January in Nîmes. Competitions broadcast and commented on the Twicth platform. Then the four best teams will be able to compete in opposing virtual arenas, during the world championship.
Finally, a place to eat “to create an environment where people stay”adds the manager, is also offered in the 1,200 m² room. On the menu, dishes made by the Montpellier restaurant Le Guru. Without forgetting the augmented reality darts which should arrive soon…
