It’s a little-known discipline that brings its share of spectacle. For 35 years, the Dammartine Mini Car Club association (MCCD) brings together many passionate members piloting 1/10 scale radio controlled off-road cars. The club, based in Dammartin-en-Goële (Seine-et-Marne), has its own structure with a permanent outdoor track and another, ephemeral and indoor on Saturday evenings.

83 members

For 5 years, Stéphane Cheron is the president of this historic association. “I fell into the field of radio-controlled cars when I was very young and I never let go. Today, I still practice and it is a pride to be at the head of the Mini car club,” he explains. Today, the association has an outdoor trackand also has a gymnasium available on Saturday evenings for practicing the discipline. “It’s very practical in winter but also when it rains. The other advantage of this ephemeral track is that it can be changed every week to allow members not to ride on the same track all the time. »

For this year, the MCCD has 83 members of all ages. “I think we range from 6 to 80 years old with a majority between 30 and 50 years old. This is also the charm of the club, the fact of seeing all generations and all levels compete for pleasure or for competition. » Because yes, the association is a member of the French Federation of Radio Controlled Cars (FFVRC).

A very specific category

Within the FFVRC, there is 12 disciplines. At the Dammartin club, the choice fell on the all-terrain 1/10 scale with electric motors. A category that appeared in the mid-1980s straight from the United States where it is the queen discipline, “All-Terrain 1/10th Electric” is the electric category best represented within the FFVRC and offers several advantages.

It is easy to use and very accessible for young people. The electric “TT 1/10th” undoubtedly constitutes the ideal choice for pilots wanting to take their first steps in radio-controlled automobile modeling. Likewise, with its electric motor, there is no gasoline to handle, nor an engine to start. “It’s ideal for small clubs like ours. I try to bring in beginners and this category is perfect for that,” explains Stéphane Cheron. And to try to attract everyone, and despite a fairly expensive cost, “the club tries to find complete packages with all the equipment included for around 400 euros while you normally have to count double for low-cost equipment” , concludes the president, determined to keep his passion for radio-controlled cars alive for years to come through the MCCD.
