MONTREAL — Although the Guzzo group is currently in turmoil, it wants to reassure its employees and customers for the coming year.
In a press release published Monday, the Guzzo group said it was committed to “protecting nearly 500 jobs and preserving the livelihoods of our employees, who constitute the heart of Cinémas Guzzo.”
A few days ago, the daily newspaper “La Presse” reported a decision from the Superior Court which places the company in liquidation and requests the sale of its assets to repay creditors. The Guzzo group, however, retains control of activities in its projection rooms.
“The last few months have been marked by increased challenges for our organization, amplified by significant media attention. Despite this, we are determined to focus our efforts on concrete solutions, explains the Guzzo Group. We are actively working on a restructuring and recovery plan to adapt to the growing challenges of our industry.”
The group indicates that its cinemas remain “fully operational”, with the exception of the Des Sources branch in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, which has been permanently closed since the beginning of December.
“Our objective remains clear: rebuild on solid foundations and continue to offer an exceptional entertainment experience to our community,” adds the Guzzo Group. We remain committed to pursuing our mission with resilience and innovation, and to serving our customers with excellence.”
