In the rumor game, high-end smartphones from Samsung and Apple are the usual kings. In the field of game consoles, Nintendo is also very well served, particularly with its long-awaited Switch 2.
The Verge recently spoke with a rather talkative leaker, NextHandheld, and highlighted: “I have heard and seen enough to think that they [les informations] could be legitimate”.

In a blog post published on December 19, 2024, the American media first reported that the name of the console would indeed be Nintendo Switch 2, according to a NextHandheld source. “I saw a photo of a dock, with the same logo as the original Nintendo Switch, but with a 2 attached”, specifies journalist Sean Hollister from The Verge.
On the side of the Switch 2 docking station, aka the dock, NextHandheld evokes connectivity similar to the Switch Oled: two USB-A ports, an HDMI, an Ethernet and a USB-C for power.
The information then seems to agree around magnetic Joy-Con controllers. NextHandheld shares as well as a physical magnetic click will sound when they are attached. Pressing a button connected to a magnet will release.
We learn in passing that the Joy-Con Drift would be ancient history thanks to a new joystick system “Hall Effect” magnetic, “which do not contain the same deteriorating sensor material and can be recalibrated easily”.
In terms of design, Nintendo's Switch 2 would have a larger screen (8 inches instead of 7 inches for the Oled Switch), and above all a new kickstand in the shape of a “U” for better stability.
The onboard power would then do wonders compared to the previous generation, with the possibility of playing in 4K at 30 frames per second when the console is plugged into its docking station. A fan would also be present to provide stable performance.
Finally, the console announcement period is scheduled for January 2025 according to NextHandheld, which follows recent rumors.
