Samsung’s next flagship smartphone is expected to feature some hardware improvements over its predecessor. Particularly because of artificial intelligence, which requires more RAM.
In a little over a month, on January 22, 2025, the South Korean giant should unveil its next flagships, the Samsung Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra. If their technical characteristics have been leaking regularly for several weeks, there are still some mysteries to be clarified.
Fortunately, well-placed informants are there to solve the problem. On the social network X, a certain Abhishek Yadav suggests that the Galaxy S25 will have more features that are a little more muscular than its predecessor. Indeed, its basic configuration, the cheapest, should be entitled to a minimum of 12 GB of RAM, compared to 8 GB for the Galaxy S24.
This is not a trivial improvement for Samsung, since more RAM will allow the device to run a maximum of tools powered by artificial intelligence. Indeed, the latter are rather greedy, and can affect the performance of devices that are not powerful enough.
As our colleagues at PhoneArenathe iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, equipped with 8 GB of RAM, do not have access to all the features of Apple Intelligence. The same goes for the Pixel 8, which despite its title as the first AI smartphone, has the same problem with Gemini. For Samsung, this would mean giving the same capabilities to its entire range, without compensation (at least, on paper).
More storage…for a more expensive base model?
At the same time, Yadav claims that the Galaxy S25 will benefit from another major development: it would come with a minimum of 256 GB of storage. The S24 comes with at least 128GB, which depending on usage can quickly limit users. It would thus be placed a notch above the Pixel 9 and the iPhone 15, which offer 128 GB of storage in their basic versions.
It remains to be seen what impact these improvements will have on the final price of the S25. Recent leaks have shown it at 899.99 euros… but for a version with 128 GB of storage. If the latter is not present on the shelves, this would mean that the cheapest device in the Galaxy S range would potentially be available from 959 euros.

Why the best Android smartphones of 2025 could be (even) more expensive
This information should therefore be taken with a grain of salt, as is customary with rumors which precede official announcements. It remains to be seen what other sources will reveal between now and January 22.
