Google is testing a new feature on its Photos application allowing you to improve a photo on the fly, at the very moment you share it. However, this quick editing function is only accessible to a handful of users for the moment.
There is no shortage of functions allowing you to improve your photos on the Google Photos application, to put it mildly. Formidably efficient and full of useful features, the Google platform has recently been enriched with several AI-based tools, such as Magic Editor, Magic Eraser, or Ask Photos, which makes it much easier to find a photo. .
A true Swiss army knife, Google Photos did not, however, offer any quick editing function designed specifically for sharing. This (small) gap now seems to be on the verge of being filled. Some Google Pixel users have in fact been able to test, for some time, a new “Quick Edit” function that Google is currently testing in small quantities.
A Quick Edit function is coming to Google Photos
In this case, this new feature has the effect of displaying, when you want to share a photo from Google Photos, quick access to two of the most used editing functions: Cropping and automatic enhancement.
The first uses the interface of the application’s usual cropping tool to allow you to resize the photo, modify its inclination or even modify its perspective. The second uses Google Photos AI to improve the contrast, colors, or exposure of your photo in order to boost its quality. Note that it is also possible to return to the original snapshot if necessary.
This Quick Edit function appears to be tested by Google with only a portion of users for the moment. The video capture above comes from a user with a Google Pixel 6 Pro smartphone, and Google Photos in version 7.10.0… which is not, however, the very latest version of the application to date. This clue suggests that Google is pushing this new feature on a very small scale, directly from its servers, and not via the traditional update system.
