Cisco announces plans to acquire SnapAttack, a threat detection platform.

The company, headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, USA, will bring critical threat detection and engineering (TD/E) technology, intellectual property and expertise to help Splunk of Cisco to further accelerate its organic threat detection content and engineering roadmap, according to Cisco.

SnapAttack’s TD/E lifecycle management solution enables security analysts to continually evaluate, organize and optimize their security content. In doing so, they streamline the research, writing, validation and implementation of threat detections into their technology environment, according to the company.

Splunk

Additionally, according to Cisco, SnapAttack will help a growing number of customers transition from competitive solutions to Splunk Enterprise Security, to easily adapt, implement and validate their existing security content on Splunk, and modernize their SIEM with a TD/E solution.

Cisco’s acquisition of Splunk was completed earlier this year. With an amount of 28 billion dollars, this is the largest acquisition ever made by Cisco.
