Last month, NVIDIA launched its new unified application for Windows with great fanfare. It brings together all the settings related to the graphics card, games, drivers and so on. Practical, it nevertheless caught the eye because of certain choices, in particular on the level of telemetry activated by default.
The “NVIDIA App” would have a negative impact on some games. Testimonies to this effect have been circulating for several days. Some are talking about a massive 15% drop in frames per second, especially with titles running Unreal Engine 5.
Sebastian Castellanos, who reported the issue, said he noticed the issues disappear by turning off the “Game Filters & Photo Mode” feature in the app’s Settings. The next day, he conducted tests to measure the differences with and without the function, with significant differences as a result. Figures confirmed by Tom’s Hardware in its own benchmarks.
NVIDIA ended up reacting in its forum, confirming the problem: “ We are aware of a performance issue with game filters and are actively investigating it “. The company recommends disabling the Filter feature in its app. A corrected version should be offered, but NVIDIA does not give details.
