The most anticipated game of the decade, GTA 6 could well be stolen by another license: “Mafia: The Old Country”.
While GTA 6 doesn't have a release date yet, it could compete with another highly anticipated game, namely Mafia : The Old Country. MCE explains everything from A to Z!
The object of all desire
It's an understatement to say that GTA 6 is one of the most anticipated games of the decade. A true object of fantasy for gamers, the video game from Rockstar Games is on everyone's lips.
Since the release of first official trailer at the end of 2023the world of video games is in turmoil over this ambitious project, which should push the limits of what we know in terms of gaming.
On social networks, fans are multiplying more or less crazy theories to try to get clues about GTA 6, helped by dataminers, looking for the slightest line of code with clues.
But for now, there is little to get your teeth into. Indeed, Rockstar Games takes great care to refine its masterpiece before offering it to the whole world.
As of now, the video game does not have an official release date. The most optimistic are counting on a release at the end of 2025, while the most cautious are banking on a release in 2026.
At any rate, GTA 6 will overshadow many games when it was released. Difficult to see another license competing with the juggernaut in the long term, apart from perhaps one. MCE tells you more!
The Mafia saga to watch GTA 6?
Who to compete with GTA 6? For the moment, no serious candidate seems to emerge as the impact and influence of this saga is flawless. Except maybe a license.
On December 13, the Hangar 13 studio unveiled the first trailer for Mafia : The Old Country. This prequel looks at the origins of organized crime in Sicily at the beginning of the 20th century.
The player will play as Enzo, who, after surviving a childhood of suffering in the sulfur mines, is offered a chance to join the Don Torrisi crime family. Tantalizing!
The release of the game is planned for summer 2025without further details for the moment. And it didn't take much for Internet users to see it as a strong competitor to GTA 6.
However, even game director Alex Cox and Hangar 13 president Nick Baynes were keen to refuse this title of competitor to GTA 6. They outlined their vision in a long interview given to IGN.
“It's not something we dwell on a lot in the team, because it's beyond our control. We let's just focus on creating the best Mafia game possible »explained Nick Baynes.
“They are different games, and they become more and more different over time. […] Mafia has always placed a little more emphasis on linear storytelling, unlike open-world experiences, which Rockstar does so well. unrivaled way in the industry« added Alex Cox on IGN. At least things are clear!
