A small smartphone with a good look
The Xiaomi 12 focuses on a small format and a diagonal of 6.28 inches, where the market is full of large phones. If the lack of IP certification and its slippery side are worrying, it is really pleasant to handle thanks to its lightness and finesse. At the front, we find a very bright and contrasting Full HD+ Amoled panel which is very pleasant for watching content, and it is even more so with the two speakers from Harman Kardon, compatible with Dolby Atmos. We also find a refresh rate capable of going up to 120 Hz for better fluidity in the interface.
Once turned over, we discover three sensors: a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle and a 5-megapixel telemacro. In practice, it will be a good companion, but will not shine for budding photographers.
A powerful chip, but there’s a catch
The Xiaomi 12 was not unanimous, and actually obtained a score of 6/10 in our test. This is notably due to its excessive heating. After a few minutes of play, it becomes almost unpleasant to hold it. For other uses, the phone does not encounter any problems. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is quite effective on a daily basis. You can still count on a smooth experience, and even the 5G network.
Finally, to keep up, the device has a 4,500 mAh battery. It is not very durable and can last a day with moderate use, without going beyond. 67W fast charging saves the day since it allows you to recover battery quickly. In our test, Xiaomi’s phone went from 28% to 98% charge in just 30 minutes.
